Research Interests
I have two areas of interest related to aging in sub-Saharan Africa. First, I’m looking at patterns of sexual behavior and HIV infection for the elderly population (aged 50+ and 65+) in Malawi. Secondly, I’m interested in the relationship between informal transfers from friends and family members and the health of the elderly- using the same data. For this research I’m using data from the Malawi Longitudinal Study of Families and Health (MLSFH); approximately 30% of the MLSFH sample of 7000 respondents is age 50 or older (and 13% is 65+).
Countries Studied
Malawi.
