Description: Since the expansion of anti-retroviral drugs to low income-countries, people living with HIV/AIDS have been living longer and healthier lives. However, these drugs may have severe side effects. Thus caregivers to people with HIV may face substantial ordeals as they care and manage the side effects. Further as being HIV positive is no longer synonymous to death, we wonder how this affects disclosure of positive serostatus. This study examines people to whom older caregivers of children with HIV/AIDS disclosed serostatus of children and reasons of disclosure. We also assess the coping styles of the caregivers as older caregivers experience significant economic, emotional, physical, and social challenges.
